Shibboleth

Shibboleth is an open-source project that provides Single Sign-On capabilities and allows sites to make informed authorization decisions for individual access of protected online resources in a privacy-preserving manner.
Currently, not all licensed database providers support the Shibboleth system. However, this secure authentication and authorization technology is increasingly being promoted throughout the world.

How to connect

On the source provider's website you can find the link Institutional login / Login via Shibboleth, etc. Then it is necessary to identify yourself as a user from Palacký University by selecting the appropriate federation (region, group) and institution, finally log in with your university account (single sign-on to the Portal UP).

How to connect directly from this portal

This portal itself detects whether the user wants to access the resource from the non-university network, in which case it automatically offers a Shibboleth link or prepared link to EZproxy.

1. All you have to do is select the required source in the list of sources, or select "Connect to the resource" on the page of this source.
    
2. You can also use the Shibboleth link at the selected source on its page here on the portal.
   This page is displayed by clicking the link [more info] in the source list.
   Then, in the section "Additional Information", you'll find a line with the link Remote access: Shibboleth.

In both cases, you will be prompted to log in, as you are used to with a single sign-on to the Portal UP.
