Databáze VHA: Vojenský historický archiv

Full info:

The military historical archive (VHA) is part of the Military Central Archive of the Czech Republic, and its task is to collect, preserve, process, and make available documents that have a historical and scholarly importance for the study of military history since 1723. The following databases can be accessed via the VHA website:

  • Legionnaires Database – was created between 1997 and 2004 at the instigation of General Rudolf Krzák, who was a member of the Czechoslovak legionary community.
  • Database of the Fallen in World War II – was created in the VHA in 2004–2005.
  • Database of members of Czechoslovak military units abroad during World War II – focuses primarily on Czechoslovak citizens and compatriots who served in units of the Czechoslovak exile army or in other allied armies. It also includes persons who were conscripted or registered by the Czechoslovak military authorities in exile, but for various reasons, they did not perform military service in the end.
  • Database of the Fallen in World War I – the information is based on archival materials stored in the VHA and includes information about soldiers who died or were declared missing. The database focuses on persons originating from the territory of the former Czechoslovakia, regardless of their nationality (Czechs, Slovaks, Germans, Hungarians, Ruthenians and others).
  • Database of members of the Czechoslovak Home Guard in Italy
